Concrete Coatings & Epoxy Floors
A coating only performs as well as the prep underneath it. Most failed garage floors we are called to recoat failed because someone rolled product over a slab that was never ground, or over moisture that had nowhere to go.

Preparation
We diamond grind the slab to open the surface profile, cut out and fill cracks and spalls, and address control joints. Where moisture vapor transmission is a concern, particularly on slabs without a vapor barrier under them, that gets tested and handled before any coating goes down. Skipping prep is how a floor peels in sheets a year later.
System options
- Full broadcast flake with a polyaspartic topcoat, the most common residential garage finish
- Solid color epoxy with a clear wear coat
- Quartz broadcast for commercial and light industrial traffic
- Metallic finishes for showroom and retail floors
- Non-slip aggregate added where floors get wet
Polyaspartic vs. epoxy
Polyaspartic cures fast, handles UV without ambering, and can be installed in a wider temperature range, which matters for a garage in February. Epoxy builds thickness economically and makes a good base coat. Most of our floors use both, with epoxy as the body and polyaspartic on top.

Common questions
- How long before I can park on it?
- Foot traffic is generally next day with a polyaspartic topcoat and vehicle traffic follows shortly after. We give you the exact schedule for your system before we start.
- Will it cover existing cracks?
- Cracks get cut out and filled during prep. A hairline may still telegraph slightly over time; we will point out anything we expect to move.
- Can you coat a basement floor?
- Yes, but moisture has to be evaluated first. A slab pushing vapor will delaminate a coating.
